This Christmas make a plan to get home safe
South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership's (SYSRP) annual anti-drink driving campaign, a month-long activity to prevent drink driving and reduce the impacts of drink driving.
Driving under the influence of drink or drugs could result in a driving ban, unlimited fine or prison sentence. Even worse, it could result in a fatal collision.
Nationally in 2022, an estimated 1,920 people were killed or seriously injured in a collision where drink driving was a factor.
Businesses and venues operating in the night time economy can help spread the message about the dangers of drink driving by sharing the campaign through your social media channels and on-premise.
SYSRP is also working with local pubs and bars to share messages with customers via their own social media sites and handing out beer mats with a QR code linked to an online South Yorkshire travel planner.
As well as trying to influence risky behaviour in the moment, partners are urging people to plan ahead, book taxis, take it in turns to be a designated driver and avoid driving while still over the limit the following morning.
